With over 20 years of diverse professional experience spanning accounting, public service, and entrepreneurship, Kanchana has built a reputation as a forward-thinking and impact-driven businesswoman. Her career began in roles as an Accounting Executive and Government Officer, where she developed a strong foundation in financial management, policy understanding, and administrative systems.
As the Founder and President of the Natural Cosmetics Association of Sri Lanka, she leads initiatives to promote sustainable, safe, and environmentally responsible cosmetic products. Her company, Nelumbo Natura Cosmetics, collaborates with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on groundbreaking research in herbal formulations. Her vision centres on reducing the use of harmful synthetic chemicals in personal care, developing natural food-grade formulations that protect both health and the environment.
Her expertise is now recognised at national policy level: she serves as a member of the National Cosmetics Sector Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, advising on the development of Sri Lanka's cosmetics sector.
